Chester's Pumpkin Patch

wheelbarrow race with Daddy

Joe and I took some vacation time this week, so today we went to Chester's Pumpkin Patch in Piedmont (about 20 minutes from our house). There was alot to see and do for a reasonable price. Harrison loved the pony ride! He didn't want to stop. There was also a petting zoo with some goats, chickens, cows, horses, and rabbits. We bowled with pumpkins (Mommy got a strike). Daddy roped a steer with a little help from Harry. We took a hayride to the other side of the farm and walked through a corn maze. It was fun, not too long. Then Harrison played in a giant pile of sand with a bulldozer and a dumptruck. There was a pretty big slide that Daddy and Harry tumbled down. It was kinda fast, I have to admit I fell on my hiney a time or two. Next, Harry and Daddy had a little wheelbarrow race. Finally, we picked out some "sugar pie" pumpkins to take home. Gotta love beautiful weather and vacation days.

Playing at the Park

taking a moment to take it all in

It was a beautiful Oklahoma day, so we headed off to the park for the afternoon. Harrison usually loves the swings, but today he played more on the slides. Daddy and Harry even tumbled down a giant grass hill. Unfortunately, no pictures of that. I was too busy laughing at Joe rolling down a hill, moaning as he went, and trying to keep a hold on Harry so he didn't tumble too fast. Fun, fun afternoon.

Holmberg Orchard

Pumpkins can be sooo heavy

Picking out some gourds

Picking apples in the orchard

My sweet boy by the Apple Tree

While in Minnesota we also visited the Holmberg Orchard. I think pumpkins and gourds are some of Harry's new favorite words. Thanks to Auntie Arliss, we were able to pick some gourds . Yea, free, home grown with love, gourds. Thanks Arliss! Harrison's new favorite fruit is also the Apple so the orchard was right up his alley. We bought some honey crisp apples, apple butter, apple crisp, and a caramel apple just for Daddy. It has all been yummy so far. It was a nice end to our wonderful Minnesota vacation.

John Deere Tractors

Playing between the wheels of a John Deere

This boy LOVES tractors!

The highlight of Harry's MN trip (besides seeing all our wonderful family) definitely had to be the tractors. He absolutely loves trucks and tractors. Before bed he would say good night to the tractor and kiss (yuck) the wheels. Not just one kiss, but four - guess he didn't want the wheels to feel left out. Everytime he saw a truck or tractor he was sure to point it out to us all. "Ooh, big truck!" He looked really cute standing in this giant tractor wheel playing with the lug nuts.

Farm Life

Playing in the Barn

Harry had so much fun at the farm running around and checking everything out. He loves the DIRT, and as you can imagine, there is plenty to go around on the farm. He had alot to see and was excited about it all. Once again, beautiful fall weather in MN.

Minnesota Trip

Catching a ride on Uncle Eric's shoulders

Harry and I joined Eric and Courtney for the long, long, long car ride (think12 hours) to Minnnesota. Eric drove some of it at night so Harrison mostly slept. He traveled very well. He spent the majority of the time doing 3 things - 1) Eating 2) Sleeping or 3)Watching Curious Buddies on DVD. We all know the songs by heart now. He didn't fuss nearly as much as I thought he would. We had a bag packed full of new toys or as we like to say "shiny things to distract him." Needless to say, we made frequent stops to let him stretch his legs. We had picnics at rest areas so he could run around. Uncle Eric, or "Ick" as Harry says, swung him around and showed him the joy of blowing those white, puff dandelion weed things. He thought it was pretty cool how they flew across the air. Aunt Courtney, or "Kiki" to Harry, played on the swings and the slide to help him burn off some energy.
Oh yes, Harrison enjoyed his first bites of a DQ Blizzard. Yum Yum. We even gave him his own Dilly Bar at one of our stops. He loved it. We also ran into a couple of the MN Timberwolves signing autographs at the Mankato Mall. Harry had his picture taken with the mascot, a couple of the ladies, and Sebastian Telfair & Craig Smith. The picture with the ladies was for Daddy since he had to work and couldn't make it on our little adventure.
Jodie's Wedding was beautiful. It was outside in a park with the beautiful MN scenery and fall leaves. Very nice. It was also good to see everyone and introduce them to Harry. He was a hit. He received many compliments on how cute, intelligent, and very well behaved he was. If they only knew...

Day Out with Thomas

Checking out the Moon Bounce

Realizing that "Hey, this is really fun!"

Cousin Matt and Harry riding Thomas the Train

We went to the Day Out with Thomas the Train last month. Harrison had a fun time and fell asleep in the car shortly after we left - SUCCESS! He loved the moon bounce. He had a great time jumping up and down a couple times, then falling back onto his hiney. Very entertaining. We also went on a 15 minute train ride with the engine, Thomas, pulling us along. It was a fun day, but luckily, Harry isn't really into Thomas and the rest of the train paraphernalia - whew, those little toys are expensive.
